Shockwave Therapy

If you are suffering from foot or heel pain, your podiatrist may recommend Shockwave therapy. This is a treatment that has been used successfully around the world for a number of years but it is only more recently that scientific research has confirmed its clinical effectiveness.

Commonly used for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, achilles tendonosis and other musculoskeletal problems, the treatment is pain-free, non-surgical and works by directing high-intensity acoustic waves to the pain point. Each treatment lasts 10 minutes and we usually prescribe three treatments over three weeks.

The acoustic waves stimulate a number of biological functions including increasing collagen levels, building blood vessel activity, reducing inflammation and breaking down excess calcium build-up.
Because Shockwave therapy creates an optimal healing environment, the benefits are long-lasting and normal function is consistently restored.
